It's a good thing your mother didn't let you pay those people. No one gives away free puppies especially people from overseas. Those are all scams. Once you pay them they will disappear and you will end up with no puppy and no money.

How old are you btw? You sound like you should be a student still. Is your entire family supportive of your decision to keep a puppy? Taking care of a dog especially a puppy is not easy. If you are going to be the main caretaker, it's just like being a single mother to a violent biting 2 year old child. Puppies are not gentle little babies you see in the movies. Those are newborn pups whose brains haven't fully developed. 2-6month old puppies are little demons who can't stop running can't stop biting and can't stop chewing.

You have to know how to train your puppy to:

- use the pee tray --> Puppies need to pee every half to one hour. They have no idea where they ought to pee and in the beginning they will do it anywhere. Are you prepared for pee and poop on your floor when you wake up or worse, on your personal things like your sofa or your shoes? We have a member here whose puppy refuses to be pee trained. She has to constantly clean up his mess. Can you be as patient as she is and keep trying for many months in the event your puppy does the same thing?

- not to bite your things + bite inhibition --> All puppies go through teething periods where their new teeth are growing and they need to sooth their itchy gums. They will go after anything and everything, computer wires, cushions, even your hands and arms. Puppy teeth are small and sharp like needles. You and your family can get scratches and scars from these bites and this period lasts for at least one month. Can you take that?

- socialisation --> The last thing you want is a dog that hates other dogs or other people. You have to teach it not to be fearful or aggressive towards other people and dogs. A dog that is constantly barking and growling at people can take a long time to train.

- health --> If it falls sick or gets something like diarrhoea, do you have the money to pay $100+ or $200+ for a single vet visit?

You have to make sure not just you but your whole family is prepared and willing to take on any of the above challenges because a puppy is a real challenge. I myself and many other can testify to this. It's rewarding no doubt seeing your puppy grow up happy and healthy but it will take a lot of investment in terms of time and money to do it.

Thank you for your advice..I am a student ya..My whole family supports me in adopting a pup.I know that pups are not that easy to take care of but I am willingly to spend my time to train them as you see, I am nearing my holidays soon and I am quite confident I can train them during my holiday which will last about 2 months plus. It's really a touching sight to see them running around and kind of play with them is really a joy.About the biting problem, I will buy toys and bones for them to bite and that in my house , nothing much is left on the floor so the pup couldn't really reach it..If the pup bites the sofa, I don't even think anyone will notice about that.I don't mind getting scratched or bited by the dog as my grand mother's dog always do that to me all the time.We will bring the pup to vet if it's sick. My parents know that it's quite expensive but we will try to reduce the risk of them getting sick.I have a empty slot in my heart that only a dog can fill..I kind of want a dog since young but my mum refuses..Until recently, she agreed to let me raise 1 but when i want a dog, I couldn't find one..I really miss rubbing their bellies and sleeping with them.. I had a pup which sleeps like a log last time.... She can sleep out of her basket and my mum and I really amuse ourselves as how she slept XD She's really so cute. But that time I have not had my holidays and that my whole family has to leave the house and leave her only until i come back and when we leave her in her cage, she wimps..That really break my heart alot and my mum decided to give her to her friend and I hope that friend is really taking good care of her now..

Hmmms do you think this is a scam too? The person did not state the fees for shipping.. Thanks for mailing back. Like i said, I'm located in Turkey with the puppies, will be shipping them to you from here. I will be ready to ship them to you depending on your capability to care for them. I also need some information from you and your experience with pet prior to shipping her. I will like to know whether you have adopt any dog before with pet experience? Can i get a pic of you and possibly your home if you dont mind? How often do you work to care for them? Hope you won't mind sending me periodic update on them and pics when shipped to you. These are to ensure they don't receive inadequate care while with you. Hope to hear from you with brief answers if ready for their shipment today.I will also like to know where u are located. Much regards

Haha pls tell me if it's a scam .. Ty.. I really cant take it anymore.. Was so happy when i heard that MANY pups were on free adoption but in the end need what shipping fee flight fee.. So ya.. I kinda really want to cry already..

Great! At least you know what your in for :) Hope I didn't sound patronising to you in my last post but you have no idea how many people have been giving up their young dogs sometimes pups that are even less than 1 yr old because of reasons that do not sit well with me. They were the same people who had previously gone around trying to adopt puppies but once they found out what a puppy truly entailed they gave them up for adoption because they couldn't handle the biting or the incessant barking or that the puppy was playing too rough or chewing too much. One person even said he was tired of cleaning up his poodle's pee because he never trained it but he also couldn't be bothered to train it. It's maddening so I find it best to always try to explain to people first what to expect when having a puppy in case they are really clueless. Thankfully you aren't :)

But still, unless your looking for local breed (mongrel) puppies, no one gives away puppies for free. Adoption shelters charge an adoption fee too. Won't you consider adult dogs? You know a puppy's cuteness won't last for long anyway.

I know that but i dont adopt a dog just because of their appearence..It's really much better of a memory to watch the pup grow in your own hand and also when it grows, it will listen to you.. If i adopt older dogs , they might not get use to the new home and might even cry..My mum's friend dog earlier on gave birth to shih tzus but she say she wanted to keep 2 to herself and gave 2 to other people already..I also told my mum if we can go spca but..no pups..So..It's really hard to decide .. If i couldn't adopt a pup for free..My mum says unless the pup ranges from $150 and below, no talk..Haiish..

Please don't EVER believe them. A lot of them are smooth talkers and they can be quite convincing but importing dogs is not such an easy process like getting a box putting a pup inside and sticking a stamp on it. No one is able to just 'ship asap'.

There are a number of paperwork to complete on both sides before the pup can even come here. Animals that are imported have to be quarantined depending on which country it comes from but I'm very sure Turkey is not on the no-quarantine list. On the exporter's part, the pup has to obtain health clearance from a certified vet to ensure it is strong enough for travelling, arrange a pet transport company, etc and on your part, the importer, you have to obtain a permit from Singapore authorities to import the animal in. There are lots of other paperwork that have to be done also but I'm not exactly sure what is needed I've never imported a dog before but confirm not so simple one quite mafan de.

I also know but fact really is that nobody gives away pedigreed puppies that they can sell instead for free unless you are got close relations la. After so many years of being on the forums I've never seen anyone giving away completely free, no strings-attached pedigree puppies to strangers. It will really be a rare chance that you can find one.

Anyway SPCA adoption fees are $200+ per dog. Don't take this the wrong way but one has to be realistic and accept that there is no free lunch in this world. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

Elaborating more on the importing on puppies part. Here is the info on ava's website:

Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore - Pets - Importation (http://www.ava.gov.sg/AVA/Templates/AVA-GenericContentTemplate.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRNODEGUID={A17F6A0D-7A46-497E-B0CB-CDBD8C325B52}&NRORIGINALURL=/AnimalsPetSector/ImportExportTransOfAnimalRelatedPrd/PetsPersonal/&NRCACHEHINT=Guest#import)

As you can see countries are listed according to their rabies risk. Turkey belongs in Country D which requires a compulsory quarantine period of 30 days If I'm not wrong. Each day in quarantine will cost you $26.25 per day, and the transportation charge to the quarantine station is $74 per animal. That's already $861.50! And there's flight fees, Vet inspection costs and processing of documents which costs $63 per hour or part thereof, and $38 per hour for a technical service fee. And there's declaration of the dog for tax purposes.

This calculator will help you calculate the deadlines of the general requirements before importing an animal. You have to apply for an import permit 30 days before your puppy can be shipped.

The exporter will also have to do just as many things as you do at his own airport. That's why there is no way a puppy from overseas can be 'totally free only need to pay flight fee' or can be 'ready for shipment today'. Preparations take months and just getting the dog here will cost you more than $1000.

Haha Thanks for your information :D.. I also know that there won't be free pups available so we are expecting to 'buy' a pup at the maximum cost of $200 if possible..I don't really mind what kind of breed the pup is cause as long as it is a pup, it's fine. I prayed real hard that I could find the pup..Why arnt Singapore lyk other countries..Dogs roam anywhere and can just pick them home.. Haiish..I guess, let natural take cost bahs..

No I don't and we don't allow selling of pets here in this forum. We don't treat pets like commodities that are traded over the web so please take note if anyone tries to sell you one through this forum. Anyone asking you for any kind of adoptions fees are also not allowed.

My two puppies have been biting and chewing for some weeks now, and doesn't always go for their chew toys. Is there something I can do?

Erm wait it out? Haha XD

At this stage they will usually prefer to go for everything else except their chew toys. We bought kongs and stuff for ours but she always preferred to chew on the coffee table ends instead which left the wood permanently damaged but.. what to do.. =.= If I remember right this was the period when our expenses went up a lot because we had quite a lot of damages to replace.

Try finding something else that they might like so you can distract them away from chewing undesirable stuff. Some people try freezing a small wet towel and giving it to them because the coldness can soothe their itchy gums. Or if they like treats a lot try giving rawhide chews and pig ears. Can easily find those in PLC and pet's station. Mine liked the pig ears a lot because it smelled nice (to her) plus I think she liked the taste. And because it's a real dehydrated pig ear complete with cartilage, one could last her for days.
